Sauna animals were born out of Finnish folk tales and forest mythology – first as separate ideas: we explored sauna rituals and on the other hand  animal mythology  in the Finnish folk tales. Combining the sauna and the forest animals happened naturally – the steam,  the spirit of the sauna took the shape of an animal.

Sauna Animals stories are written by Reetta –  a human animal inspired by myths and the ancient connection between nature and man. In their dreams the magnificent deer run tall and free.

The shape of the animals has been found by Riikka – an illustrator of forest and steam spirits.  In their dreams the bears are playful and only a little scary.
